Basic Police Academy SB116 Registration Info/Checklist

Please do not begin any portion of the registration process until you have received test scores as follows:

  • POST written exam T-score of 48 or higher
  • WSTB physical agility minimum score of 320 and successful completion of 1.5 mile run

If you have entrance assessment scores from another agency, you must provide a copy of those scores.  Passing scores must be dated within one year of the start date of your chosen Academy.  For more info on entrance assessment exams, visit our website and click on Assessment Tests.

To register, you may phone in or bring in your deposit for the course (sorry, South Bay Regional does not accept personal checks).  Submission of the following documents is required prior to the course; please adhere to all noted time specifications:

  • Medical Exam Report and Physical Clearance Limitation Forms — take these pages to your physician no sooner than 30 days prior to the start date of your academy.  Submit completed pages to The Academy as soon as possible after your medical exam.

In addition to receiving your deposit and the completed forms listed above, official acceptance into The Academy requires the following:

  • Photocopy of your valid CA driver’s license
  • Photocopy of your medical insurance card (you must have coverage for the duration of the course)
  • 3-year DMV abstract (request from a DMV office); must be dated within 90 days from the start date of your chosen Academy
  • PT gear (visit our office at least one month prior to Academy start date to be fitted for your gear)
  • Final payment – must be paid in full at least five (5) business days prior to start date of The Academy

Reference items:

  • Student Needs List — review this doc as soon as possible and, if you do not already own a firearm, proceed with the handgun process early — you will have to take into account imposed waiting periods; other additional requirements may vary by supplier.
  • Orientation Letter

Financial Aid:

Receiving financial aid will lower your overall course fees; therefore, if you plan to apply for financial aid, please inform our office as soon as possible
