Course Information

Description

This is a three-day course presented by FEMA.  Field Force Operations (FFO) provides state and local law enforcement personnel the knowledge and skills necessary to prepare for and successfully mitigate threat incidents involving civil disorder.  FFO combines classroom instruction with practical exercises that afford responders the opportunity to practice concepts and tactics in a controlled enviroment.  Activities included in this course are mass arrest procedures, team tactics, demonstrator tactics, crowd dynamics and mob behavior, use of riot control agents and less lethal munitions, and the employment of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Unfortunately, civil unrest has become a normalized part of the political landscape and will likely continue into the forseeable future.  The Sheriff's Office is opening this training to allied agencies and encourages everyone who is interested to come.  Law enforcement is a team effort, even more so in crowd control scenarios.  This training will not only bring everyone up to date with current best practices, it will allow us to train together as we would in a real life incident.
