Course Information

DescriptionThe Fire Fighter I Academy is an 8-month, 632 hour program with additional required Certification Testing. The Fire Academy is intended to give required didactic and realistic hands-on fire fighter training as required by the State Fire Training Fire Fighter I Curriculum. This course meets and exceeds the standards for certification by the State Board of Fire Services and the Office of the State Fire Marshal. The Fire Academy is a "para military" setting with stringent uniform and grooming standards, demanding physical fitness expectations, high academic standards and a focus on professionalism that is expected by the fire service. The Fire Academy format is intended to properly prepare our graduates for successful entry into the fire service career. 

Pre-Requisite

Public Safety First Aid and CPR (CA Health and Safety Code 1797.182)

* Training equivalent to the current American Heart Association's guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care at the Healthcare Provider level or BLS level.

$1,147.00 – Required Deposit $2,834.00 – (less deposit) Total Tuition Additional Expenses: $300.00 - State Fire Fire Fighter I Certification Testing (Due date will be provided during the Fire Fighter I Academy) $1,108.00 - (Estimated) for PPE & SCBA Rental to vendor $337.00 - (Estimated) for Class B Uniforms to vendor Click here for estimated costs & expenses. Payment Information: All classes require full payment or a designated deposit at time of reservation. We accept Visa and MasterCard (a transaction fee of 2% will apply), cash, money order and cashier’s checks (made payable to SBRPSTC). Agency billing may also be arranged. Financial aid and VA benefits may be available. *ALL FEES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE. When possible, students will be advised of any fee changes prior to course start date. Tuition fee increases made at any time by the State Chancellor’s office may require collection of additional fees from students. Students who have not lived in California for at least one (1) year and (1) day prior to start of college semester or do not meet other college criteria may be considered “out-of-state” students, and subject to additional fees to the ones listed above. Please check with our staff for details and exact costs. Cancellation/Refund Policy Full payment is due 30 days prior (10/04/2018) to the start of the Academy. Out of consideration for people who are on a waiting list, your reservation must be cancelled no later than 30 days prior to first day of class. After the 30-day cancellation period, students will forfeit their reservation and deposit amount. Last minute cancellations may be subject to additional late cancellation fees. 11/03/2018 - 06/11/2019 Fire Academy Hours: 1800-2200 (6pm - 10pm) every Friday evening 0800-1800 (8am - 6pm) every Saturday and Sunday Other weekday or evening sessions may be required 632 academy hours of instruction of skills and 54 hours of testing (18 college units) Recruits are expected to attend all sessions
