South Bay Regional is excited to announce the introduction of its full-time Paramedic Program.  This intensive Program will be offered in a three-day, 24 hours a week format on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. The Program is comprised of three (3) sequential courses: Core, Clinical, and Internship delivered in four (4) distinct Modules including specialty certifications.

The primary goal of the South Bay Regional Paramedic Program is to meet or exceed minimum standards in preparing competent entry-level Paramedics in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains with or without exit points at the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician and/or Emergency Medical Technician, and/or Emergency Medical Responder levels.

Upon successful completion on the Program, students will be able to apply for State and National paramedic licensure, as well as be prepared to apply and secure gainful employment as an entry-level paramedic.

Program Accreditation

Cohorts receive transcribed community college credit from participating Consortium College Members including a Certificate of Achievement and the ability to continue their education and earn an Associate Degree.

Paramedic Program Accreditation Status

South Bay Regional Paramedic program has been issued a Letter of Review by the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP). This letter is NOT a CAAHEP accreditation status, it is a status signifying that a program seeking initial accreditation has demonstrated sufficient compliance with the accreditation standards through the Letter of Review Self Study Report (LSSR) and other documentation. Letter of Review is recognized by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) for eligibility to take the National Registry’s Paramedic credentialing examination(s). However, it is NOT a guarantee of eventual accreditation.

Program Schedule

The Program is designed for students who have experience as EMTs, and are prepared for the rigor and intense programmatic expectations and demands. The Program will typically require 13-14 months to complete and do not conform to a traditional semester or quarter format.

Core Course:

The First Module meets for 10 weeks, Wednesday – Friday 08:00-17:00 with a one-hour lunch break. Each week will consist of two 8-hour days of Lecture and one 8-hour day of Lab work.

One Week Break

The Second Module meets for 10 weeks, Wednesday – Friday 08:00-17:00 with a one-hour lunch break. Each week will consist of two 8-hour days of Lecture and one 8-hour day of Lab work. Successful students will be enrolled in the next course.

Clinical Course:

The Third Module meets for 10 weeks, Wednesday – Friday 08:00-17:00 with a one-hour lunch break. Each week will consist of two 8-hour days of Lecture and one 8-hour day of Clinical Specialty Rotations. Successful students will be eligible for Internship placement and enrollment in the corresponding college course.

Internship Course:

The Fourth Module is 650 hours of extern and internship work within a hospital and pre-hospital environment. The days and hours will be dependent upon preceptor schedules and availability.

No graduates during the 2022 reporting year.

  • Retention – 15/15 (100%)
  • Pass Rate for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians certification exam:
    • 12/15 – Pass first (1st) attempt
    • 2/3 Pass second (2nd) attempt
    • 14/15 Passed in total (1 waiting for 3rd attempt)
  • Positive Job Placement – 15/15 (100%) – the graduate is employed full or part-time or volunteers in the profession or in a related field: or is continuing his/her education; or is serving in the military
