ICI Human Trafficking Investigations

This new ICI foundation specialty course provides investigators with hands-on training in the multi- faceted area of Human Trafficking and related undercover operations. This course is specifically designed for investigators responsible for handling crimes related to Human Trafficking. Students in this course are exposed to a series of various practical exercises; including sex and labor trafficking case studies, victim interviews, undercover surveillance exercises, use of website searches for out-calls, etc. This course will also provide training on Human Trafficking victimology, victim-centered approaches to investigations, laws and legal applications, potential ethical issues, evidence collection, proactive case development to include technology used to commit Human Trafficking crimes (Internet) as well as technology available to solve crimes.

At the conclusion of this course the student/investigator will be able to:
  • Interpret and apply laws related to Human Trafficking crimes;
  • Demonstrate competency in investigating crimes related to Human Trafficking;
  • Identify, access, and preserve crime-related physical and electronic evidence;
  • Properly and legally conduct undercover operations; and
  • Successfully prepare for and assist in the prosecution of Human Trafficking cases.

Students required to bring undercover laptop computers (with IP Masker/Network Safe/Firewall) and undercover cellphones to class.

Cancellation / Refund Policy

All classes require full payment due by or before the first day of class. Out of consideration for people who are on a waiting list, please cancel your reservation no later than 21 days prior to first day of class. After the 21-day cancellation period, students will forfeit a minimum of $50 for materials expenses associated with unexcused cancellations. Substitutions or transfer of registration to another student is permitted upon approval.

Course Cancellation

Each class has a minimum enrollment requirement. If the minimum enrollment is not reached for the course three weeks before the class begins, the class will be cancelled, and deposits will be refunded in full.

Out of State or Non-Affiliated students who have not lived in California for at least one (1) year and one (1) day prior to start of college semester are subject to "out of state" college registration fees in addition to the fees listed above. This program is presented through the South Bay Regional Public Safety Training Consortium of Community Colleges (SBRPSTC), which includes Gavilan College, Monterey Peninsula College, Ohlone College, Hartnell College, Foothill College, Lake Tahoe Community College, Mission College, College of San Mateo, and Cabrillo College.

Only courses and programs presented for college credit will be funded, transcripted and certified through one of these accredited institutions.
