Description
This course is designed to enhance the skills and abilities of incumbent public safety dispatchers regarding terrorism in today’s society. While this course focuses on the framework of a terrorist incident, special attention is given to emergency incident management. This course will accomplish that goal by providing the student with background information, concepts, techniques and an understanding of the emotional impact of dealing with terrorism.
Pre-requisite: Prior to attending this course, students must complete two required NIMS Courses. NIMS courses now replace the previous Incident Command System (ICS) Course. This can be done on-line at http://training.fema.gov/IS/NIMS.aspx prior to attending this class.
Courses required are:
· IS-100.b Introduction to Incident Command System (ICS-100) or IS-100.LEb Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS 100) for Law Enforcement
· IS-700.a National Incident Management System (NIMS) An Introduction
If the student does not complete this on-line training prior to this course, they will have difficulty grasping concepts and working through scenarios.
